🟢 When mixed with water, Borax serves as a beneficial flux for soldering jewelry metals like gold and silver, preventing them from sticking to ceramic crucibles. In the melting of Gold and Silver, Borax aids in dissolving Oxides and impurities, resulting in a fluid borate slag that forms on the surface of the molten metal. This slag is removed periodically using a carbon-graphite or clay rod.
